The circled letters in the grid formed We’ll Meet Again (each word jumbled in a distinct group). It was famously sung by Dame Vera Lynn; DAME was the unclued answer entered at 9ac + 11ac and VERA was an anagram of the answer ARVE at 21dn + 16dn. The lyrics “We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when” could be seen as relating to the split entry method. The continuation “But I know we’ll meet again SOME SUNNY DAY” provided the “when” to be written below the grid. The puzzle was published on the weekend when daylight saving began in the United Kingdom, ie British Summer Time.
