Common Assault by Awinger

Puzzle explanation

The first letters of extra words in clues spelt out “not a penny off the pay, not a minute on the day”, a slogan used in the General Strike of May 1926. The striking groups MINERS, DOCKERS and PRINTERS were erased from the grid. The erasure removed P from (ie, took a penny off) THE PAY and left A MINUTE on THE DAY. Those cells were highlighted, along with Stanley BALDWIN, who was the prime minister at the time.
